Sorry this is a little late. Just had a busy day. This
week has been pretty good. We had Zone P-Day, Zone Conference, and 7
people come to church! It was a good week!
Sorry I didn't get any pictures up last week, I was still waiting for some to be sent to me from other Elders.
The
week started out great with Zone P-Day which was kinda basic. We had
the pickle ball courts set up and then games on the stage. However the
evening was super epic. We had dinner with a member who made us
Touchdown Burgers! Instead of a normal hamburger bun, you use a
doughnut. He usually uses glazed doughnuts for it. Then he makes a
turkey patty with tomatoes and onions in it with a slice of pepper jack
cheese on it. It was super good and I will have to bring this food home
with me to share with y'all. We continued to have some lessons with
friends. On Tuesday we had a lesson and then invited them to English
class just 30 minutes later and she came! We also had Helana and Junior
in English class too! They really enjoyed it and want to go back. After
all that we got haircuts in preparation for Zone Conference.
On
Wednesday we didn’t have district council because of ZoCo so we had a
bike day. It felt super nice outside because it just rained. As we were
going back to the apartment it started to get super hot. Once we were in
for the afternoon to do more studies it down-poured for 2-3 hours. Then
we decided to not continue bike day. We had dinner with Lorenzo who you
might remember from my time in Sunnyside. He came to our area and we
went to a Chinese Buffet for dinner. What a great way to spend Zone
Conference Eve.
Wow this
zone conference was special. It was the last Zone Conference we had with
the Richards as they are leaving this next transfer and we will have
the Garns come in. It is super sad yet also super exciting. I get almost
half and half with each mission president. The main theme of this
conference was the theme that the Richards have had their whole time
here. Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. It was also so fitting that
Come Thou Fount just got released on the Sacred Music app. At the very
end we had Elder Madsen on the organ going all in as we sang this
wonderful hymn with the Richards one last time. It almost got me crying.
The
next day was not very eventful. We didn’t really have any lessons
planned so we thought we would clean up the map a bit. We went to an
apartment complex nearby and tried to contact every gray dot there that
we could. Many of them no longer lived there and we know that because
the apartment door is screwed shut. There were about 45 households that
no longer live there, it was crazy. However the next day was very
eventful.
It was the
start of a new month and that just felt amazing. We had new miles to use
on the car. The first 2 lessons we had canceled on us so that was
unfortunate. Then we had an amazing lesson. It started to pour rain and
the sisters were with a member and asked if we could stop by and give a
blessing. We went by and did so then she asked if we could bless the
apartment and we were all for it. I knew that you can bless houses and
apartments but I had just never done it before so that was a neat
experience. After that we had lunch at Hawaiian Bros while Elder Stone
had a ZLC call. We went by our recent convert Joseph Garcia and the cat
that hangs out around his apartment just had kittens that morning so
that was adorable to see. We went with the Winsors to meet a media
referral we got. He is a Muslim guy who just wants to learn as much as
he can about Christianity just for academic reasons. However, part of
that is wanting to go to church. Maybe he will be learning and then the
Spirit will strike a chord in his heart that will help him see it all in
more of a spiritual way. We went by the Massangas for dinner and
continued to help aand serve them. After that we went by Clercin and
Clarcin to share some more and teach more of the after Baptism
Principles to Clercin. It was a packed day for us.
Finally
on Sunday it all paid off as we had 7 people come to church. We had
been pulling some low numbers for a while so this was super nice to get.
There were some great testimonies shared too which makes having all
those friends there even better. Now we get to start the last full week
of the transfer. YEEE HAWWW.
